Similar to the issue of IVF in general, using a surrogate to have a child leads to not only the child being seen as a product, but also reduces the woman to a mere birthing-vessel. On the first glance, we might be thinking of emotionally relatable scenarios where a family-member or friend volunteers to help their loved-ones to fulfill their dream of having a child, but the hard truth is that surrogacy is exploiting (mostly poor and young) women to rent out their womb for much needed financial aid. That is why fertility tourism mostly occurs in countries with a less stable economy.
