There are many reasons and situations that lead an expecting mother to consider an abortion. Sadly, most women were in need of encouragement and support, but were only presented the possibility to abort their child. A German pregnancy-counseling agency has published a statistic, showing the main reasons why women think about an abortion, which are:
- Biographical reasons (41,7%)
- Overburdening (30,5%)
- Problems with their partner (17,2%)
- Financial reasons (6,7%)
- Medical reasons (3,1%)
- Rape (0,5%)
- Pressure from a third party (0,3%)*
A study conducted in Austria in 2023 has shown that even if the pressure from outside may not be the main reason for an abortion, more than 50% of all women chose an abortion while feeling pressured “very strongly” or “strongly” from an external party.**
Whatever the problem at hand – the truth remaining is that most women who choose an abortion were hoping and searching for support, and were left alone, choosing their child’s death as their only “solution”.
